THEORIA:

"Contemplation. Truth-seeking. Understanding reality by witnessing its underlying patterns & principles."

Hi, I’m Charity Eugair, and I’ve worked in human services for 20 years, spanning a range of supports from small business development to domestic violence advocacy, from trauma therapy to community-based crisis response. I have worked in clinical mental health since 2016 and across all my service-work, what I value most is helping people know themselves well and navigate life from their deepest truth.

This goal is at the heart of all individual, relational and collective well-being.

Theoria Associates is my private clinical practice and consultancy, where I offer individual psychotherapy to adults living in Vermont, and organizational and entrepreneurial consulting to businesses and founders nationwide.

All of my work is rooted in a model called Internal Family Systems (IFS) which is both an evidence-based therapy method and a powerful theory of mind used across many domains to help resolve conflict and optimize connection.

In the work of therapy, my use of IFS helps my clients understand themselves through a new lens and learn tools for negotiating with lesser-known parts of themselves which, while always well-meaning, often create consequence and suffering. Through guided inner work, we navigate the inner system respectfully and with curiosity, seeking to know and heal hidden root causes of conflict and distress.

In my consulting work, IFS brings a new, often-revolutionizing lens for understanding the drivers of human behavior. By applying both theoretical understanding and practical tools for engagement, leaders can build psychological safety and more sustainable, effective workplaces.

I began training with the IFS Institute in 2016 and quickly felt a natural affinity for this way of working within. As IFS Therapists, we learn this method not just academically or observationally, but through our own required inner work and experiencing the model personally. In doing so I found that the depth of change - and the relief - available through IFS was worlds beyond conventional therapies that I had studied, and received myself, earlier in life.

I went into private practice after graduate school, dovetailing with my years in domestic violence advocacy. My practice naturally oriented toward survivors based on both personal and professional history. I found that the use of the IFS model afforded my clients a framework to honestly and curiously explore why they continued to tolerate and/or expose themselves to harm. When we were able to explore their deeper truths without shame, judgment, or demand, the work shifted from uphill to game-changing.

At my core, respect for individual autonomy and personal authority are essential. Too many models of therapy position the clinician as the authority and default of expertise. As an IFS therapist, I am a method and practice expert, but firmly believe that each client is the expert and author of their own life. My role is never to impart the wisdom or knowledge needed for a better life. Rather, it is to help my clients meet what’s in the way differently, regain trust in Self, and reconnect to the wisdom and clarity they already contain.

Today, I maintain a small clinical caseload and offer leadership training and development, while still working in emergency mental health, and running my art-based business, Perennial Heart.

Outside of my therapy and leadership work, I am often found hiking, camping, foraging or gardening in my beautiful home state of Vermont, creating pattern and textile art, traveling with my two teenage sons and our dog, Luna, and volunteering as a board member at the Dorset Equine Rescue

Thank you for being here to learn more about me. If this work resonates with you, I hope I’ll get to know you in time as well.

All my best,

Charity
